Where the Weak Find Strength

Psalm 6:2 – “Have mercy upon me, O LORD; for I am weak…”
Psalm 6:4 – “…O LORD, deliver my soul…”

Like parents who give special attention to a weak, helpless child, so the Father in Heaven is pleased to provide for those who cry out to Him in time of trouble. The Bible speaks of many “heroes of faith” who were thus accorded God’s aid. (Heb.11:34). The vacuum of their weakness drew forth His strengthening power, giving them unexpected victory.

In speaking of this truth, Dr. A. C. Dixon related the following incident: “A friend of mine who was very fond of hunting lived in an area that abounded with wild deer. One morning as he was walking across the meadows, he heard the baying of hounds in the distance. As they approached, he saw the object of the chase – a young doe, very weary, its tongue hanging out, and panting with exhaustion. Hesitating for a moment and gazing about in a pathetic manner, the animal saw its pursuers closing in. Its first impulse was to run again, but instead, it fell defenseless at the feet of my friend. He said, “I stood there for some time with a stick in my hand, fighting off the barking dogs. I was determined that none of them should harm the little deer which in its weakness had appealed to my strength!”

Dear Christian friend, your cry for help in your hour of distress will also touch the Father’s loving heart. With the psalmist you will soon be able to testify,”…the Lord hath heard the voice of my weeping” (Ps. 6:8).

The things that are driving your soul to the point of spiritual exhaustion will then be overcome as He bares His mighty arm in your defense. He will provide the strength you so sorely need!
