You Are Needed
1 Corinthians 12:4-7 – “Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.”
A very important rehearsal was in progress for a great oratorio. In front of the array of musicians and singers stood the famed conductor. As he wielded the baton, the music of the mighty chorus filled the building, along with the thundering strains of the organ, the rolling of the drums, the vibrant tones of the horns, and the beautiful notes of the stringed instruments. “Stop!” he commanded. “Where is the piccolo?” One man in that vast company of combined choir and orchestra had been silent. The ear of the highly trained director missed the tiny note, for the sound was imperfect without it.
You’ve probably heard someone say, “There’s really nothing that I can do for Christ, I have no talents.” Child of God, by faith you have received the Savior; and the Holy Spirit has placed you into the Body of Christ. In the human body, “the eye cannot say unto the feet, I have no need of you.” In fact, “much more those members of the body which seem to be more feeble are necessary.” ((I Cor. 12:21-22). And in the body of Christ, YOU are important. There is a function for YOU to perform! The apostle Paul says in Ephesians 4:16 that we need “the effectual working…..of every part.”
If the body of Christ is to be effective and carry out the Great Commission every believer must supply that which the Lord empowered him to do. After we have given thanks for the amazing grace that has saved and transformed us, may we also allow God’s Spirit to make us useful for His glory.
